Leadership Vacaville: Community Service Project

LEADERSHIP VACAVILLE PARTICIPANTS ANNOUNCE COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT

Group to create endowment fund benefiting non-profits serving Vacaville

Leadership VacavilleVACAVILLE – The inaugural participants in Leadership Vacaville are establishing an endowment fund to raise awareness of the critical need to establish predictable sources of revenue that benefit the non-profit organizations serving at-risk populations in Vacaville.

Leadership Vacaville is a new program of the Vacaville Chamber of Commerce designed to prepare emerging leaders, through education and experience, to meet the future leadership needs of the community. One of the requirements of the program is participants must perform a community service project.

The participants acknowledge the investment the Chamber and other members of the community are making in them. “We accept that this investment comes with an expectation that we too will invest back into our community,” said Venis Jones Boyd, a Leadership Vacaville member from First 5 Solano. “And, with the idea of preparing for the future in mind, we decided to create the Leadership Vacaville Legacy Endowment Fund.”

The Leadership Vacaville participants want the endowment to serve as a investment tool for the community to pool their resources today and create an ongoing source of financial assistance for non-profit organizations serving Vacaville.

“Over the next few months you will see a variety of efforts on our part designed to show the how the community of Vacaville can set aside money today to create an ongoing source of financial assistance for local nonprofit organizations,” said Lauren Osborn, a Leadership Vacaville member from Solano Bank.

A minimum of $10,000 is needed to establish an endowment account with the Solano Community Foundation. Their vision is the community will continue to add to the fund after their 10-month training ends in May. To date, Leadership Vacaville has raised nearly $3,000.

Donation checks should be made payable to the Solano Community Foundation. Donations can be dropped off at the Vacaville Chamber of Commerce at 300 Main Street or the First Northern Bank at 661 Elmira Road. Checks can also be mailed to the Solano Community Foundation at 1261 Travis Boulevard, Suite 320, Fairfield, CA 94533.
